7 Things to Do Today If You Want More Clients This Week
You don’t need to overhaul your website, record a hundred Reels, or start a TikTok dance trend to get more clients. You need to be visible, trustworthy, and easy to say yes to, today.
If your phone’s been quiet or inquiries have slowed, these seven moves can create quick momentum without burning you out. Think of them as small shifts with a big return, strategies most therapists aren’t using, but absolutely should.
Update your “Google face”
Before people follow you on social, they Google you. So today, Google your name. What comes up?
If your Psychology Today profile or your website shows up, great, now read it with a fresh eye. Does it sound like a real person your clients would trust, or like every other therapist online?
Quick fix: Add one relatable line to your headline or first sentence that sounds human.\
Instead of: “I help adults manage anxiety and depression,”
Try: “If you’re tired of overthinking every decision and feeling like your brain won’t turn off, you’re in the right place.”
That one line makes people stop scrolling, and maybe even click.
Create a “client magnet” story post
Instead of posting generic inspiration or clinical education, post a story that mirrors your clients’ inner dialogue.
Example:
“A client once told me, ‘I feel like everyone else got the manual for adulthood, and I missed that class.’
We laughed, but we also unpacked how many of us are carrying quiet shame about not being ‘further along.’ You’re not behind. You’re human.”
This builds emotional connection faster than any quote graphic can. Post it on Instagram, LinkedIn, or Threads with an invitation to work together. If you want to be a little more discrete you can also use those mic drop moments in session that make your clients pause and reflect, that way it highlights what they can expect from a session with you.
Why it works: People hire the therapist who feels like they already get them, not the one with the fanciest credentials.
Send three personal reconnection messages
Scroll your inbox or DMs. Find three people you’ve had good professional chemistry with, a colleague, referral partner, or former client (if appropriate). Then send a quick, friendly check-in. Not salesy. Not awkward. Just human.
Something like:
“Hey! I was just thinking about the conversation we had about burnout last spring. How have things been on your end?”
It’s amazing how often those “just thinking of you” messages turn into referrals or collaborations.
Add a “what’s next” button
Many therapists lose potential clients because their website or social page ends with information, not instruction.
Fix that today by adding a clear “Here’s what to do next” section.
Example:
Ready to stop running on empty? Schedule your free 15-minute consultation. Click here.
People don’t want to guess how to hire you. Tell them, clearly and confidently.
Teach your followers one quick win
Don’t just post tips, teach something people can do right now to feel better. People have more INFORMATION than ever, what they need is your support with APPLICATION.
Example:
“Here’s a 2-minute way to stop a spiraling thought.”
“This one question helps my clients decide if they’re saying yes out of guilt or peace.”
“Here’s a 3 sentence email to set a boundary at work without getting fired”
When people feel relief from your free content, they naturally want more, and they trust that your paid support will be even better.
Audit your “client readiness”
Look at your website, bio link, and auto-replies. Do they make it easy for someone to become a client today?
Ask yourself:
Can someone schedule directly or do they have to email you first?
Is your contact form mobile-friendly?
Do you mention current availability anywhere?
Most people won’t hunt for how to work with you, they’ll just move on. And for God’s sake, stop hiding things. No more private profiles, waiting for an answer or reply. Set up a ManyChat automation and let it be simple and easy.
Share your “why” (not your method)
Therapists love talking about modalities, CBT, EMDR, DBT, IFS, and while SOME clients do care about the specifics, ALL clients care how you work. They may want the modality, but why should they want it from YOU?
Try sharing a moment that inspired you to do this work. For example:
“I started specializing in high-functioning anxiety because I know what it’s like to hold everything together on the outside while quietly falling apart on the inside.”
It’s personal. It’s powerful. And it helps clients feel safe reaching out. Now if you’re bold, I mean really want to get clients this week, do it on video, because video converts clients faster than any static post.
Bonus tip: Stop waiting to feel ready
You don’t need a new logo, brand shoot, or funnel before you start showing up. You just need to decide that being visible doesn’t make you pushy, it makes you available.
The clients who need your help this week are already searching. Don’t make them work harder than they have to.
